Challenge: Dark, Small, Limited Cabinets & Counter space. Not integrated into the home.
Solution: Created an open space from the front door to the rear door facing the backyard pool. Put in two islands, a bar facing the living room, and ‘buffet’ table facing the dining room.
Challenges: Outdated, dark, small space, needed more useful cabinets, maximize small space, elevate the kitchen
Solution: Brighten, maximized cabinet space, counter depth fridge, white cabinets above, blue cabinets below, gold accessories, ‘wood’ tile floors, white counters, glass upper cabinets to keep space open feeling.
Challenge – tiny kitchen – 10x12 feet, mud room off the kitchen, and a water heater, and hallway to the bathroom and rear bedroom.
Solution: Integrate the mudroom, the hallway, and the small rear bedroom closet to create a very large kitchen with island. Moved the door to the patio from the mudroom to the kitchen (created a walk-in closet for the rear bedroom with this change! Now utilizing every inch of space! More than doubled the kitchen space!
Challenge - only one wall of cabinets, door to patio in the middle of the kitchen, too dark, very small space. Limited space for seating/dining.
Solution: Move the door to the living room to allow cabinet continuity along 3 walls instead of just 1, white cabinets and a lighter floor to brighten room, shallow fridge to allow for more working space, bar counter for seating at the window with cabinet beneath.
Challenge: Maximize small alley kitchen, integrate cooking activities into the living room, find cabinet space, needed space to eat as there is no dining room.
Solution: Stovetop, Sink, Dishwasher all ‘face’ the living room. Great to entertain/be with family room so you miss nothing while cooking/cleaning. Put cabinets all the way up to the 12’ ceiling. Upper cabinets used to store items rarely used via expandable ladder., made large bar to seat 4.
Challenges: Small/dark kitchen, old cabinets, limited cabinet space, no dishwasher, dated, no style to the space, no space to eat/hang out, no counter space.
Solution: Integrate Spanish style, white cabinets, terracotta floor and counters, use all wall spaces, match original cabinets on one wall, give a unique/special feel, +2 seat bar!
Challenges: Small space, dark kitchen, only 2 walls of cabinets, dark cabinets.
Solution: Spanish tile on the floor to give some color & keep with house design, white cabinets to keep space feeling bright and open, kept upper cabinets to 2 walls only to keep space feeling open.
White and bright - maximized the kitchen space and used white cabinets to help the tiny kitchen feel bigger. Kept one wall open on top - with no upper cabinets to help the kitchen feel larger. Went with a fun floor color to add some character. Tons of cabinet space now!
